I felt the characters in PtI were less enjoyable than RWaV. The characters in the latter evoked more sympathy.<br />I think Forster was in a different place when he wrote the first one than the other. I found it ironic that he did not develop the Emersons when they had so much potential, but instead used them largely to serve as vehicles to expound on his worldview.<br /><br />Really, I wish the book went on because all the characters were worth following along for the rest of their lives.<br /><br />I guess this is where I must remind myself they aren't real. The movie was very good, but I really enjoyed the book, even though the characters were perhaps a little more negative than in Room With a View.
