I think that Crime and Punishment could be discussed for hours around the psychology of justifying our actions and how really ingenious some people are at it. What would be the logical outcome of it? One thing you can say is, his stories are never boring.Sharon Wilfonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17466621290140789056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-948826710613032587.post-26162043041215876882016-07-25T08:47:02.811-07:002016-07-25T08:47:02.811-07:00Hi R.T. I personally all of Dostoyevsky's characters so out there. They seem to be more types of characters or even elements of human character. As though he took a human and separated the strands of personality out of them. This is especially true in the Brothers Karamazov. I wonder if all of his characters are projections of himself. I'll have to reflect on whether I live in the shadows of crimes and punishments. Thanks for the thoughtful comment.Sharon Wilfonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17466621290140789056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-948826710613032587.post-49337148481717844982016-07-25T07:32:37.175-07:002016-07-25T07:32:37.175-07:00Hi Sharon - Great commentary on this novel.

Dostoevsky certainly had a knack for portraying ideologies that negated morality. This was strongly illustrated in the possessed. It was striking how he seemed to foresee the dangers os Communism so early in the game. Well, you may ignore that question, and note that I will be rereading C&P soon. Yes, with your fine posting you've been my motivation!
