This church is unusual in that it contains beautiful art for the worshiper to enjoy and contemplate. Most modern churches, at least Protestant ones, are spare in their design and decoration. |
We visited this church in Koblenz before getting on our boat. |
I would have liked to have gotten off the boat and explored this castle. I did get to walk through others. |
Does not this castle nestled in the hills make you think of fairy tales? |
This is the second day of our boat and bike trip. Next stop is Mainz to see the original printing press and St. Stephen's Church with Chagall's stained glass paintings.

What beautiful country. It must be something living in a place like that.
I look forward to reading about your experience visiting the first printing press.
Hi Brian! Well, you'll be disappointed because it was closed when we got there. I only got to look through the door. We did get to see Chagall's stained glass at St. Stephen's church which I'll post next time. Have a wonderful week.
Absolutely beautiful shots, Sharon! Makes me want to go there. Looks almost unreal, like stage settings.
Hi Joyce! I agree with you. It just seemed unreal like I had stepped into Grimm's Fairy Tales.
You know, while I was passing those mountains and wine fields I only had one thought on my mind - HOW?! How do they harvest those grapes? Some hills are so steep it's scary to even think about it.
I enjoyed your beautiful pictures :)
Hi Baiba! It certainly boggles the imagination to think how anyone can cultivate those fields. I guess those German wine farmers are made of sterner stuff than us! :)
I'm glad you enjoyed my photos!
